Everything you need to know about the BCCI television rights auction

After the successful Indian Premier League broadcast rights auction BCCI has turned it’s attention to domestic and international broadcast rights auction.

BCCI has invited bids for broadcast and media rights, to be awarded for a five-year period, starting from 1 April 2018, of all cricket matches to be played in India till March 2023.

Star India had picked up the BCCI rights for Rs 3,851 crore in 2012. In their current deal Star India pay out BCCI close to INR 43 crores per match and the new bid will be a testing ground for a brand new bumper pay out for BCCI.

The big talk point is will any one break the broadcast duopoly of Star abd Sony, or will Star create a monopoly after bagging IPL consolidated rights package?
